Ballade includes two main ideas – the first, lyrical, poignant, and expressive; and the other,
mystical and hazy, yet simultaneously triumphant. While the piece conveys many emotions, I
see it as telling a story of waiting, mourning, and longing, yet seeking solace in those who are
near to us.
